GG-CE Web application
GG-CE is accessed through a web browser on desktop workstations, tablets and mobiles. The web application is subdivided along the different areas of genebank operations and provides specialized tools for each section.
Passport data* deals with accession level data: information regarding their provenance, names, legal status, images, etc. The passport data is also available in Multi-crop Passport Descriptors (MCPD) format, the community standard for passport data exchange. There is an option to display a summary of accessions grouped by a number of characteristics. Finally, one can check actions related to accessions which are in progress, pending or completed.
Inventory deals with the management of physical packets of material, cryo tubes or plants in the field. It allows the genebank to track where germplasm is currently stored, deployed, for what purpose and to which accession it belongs. This application section provides the key functionalities for managing resources in the genebank.
It is possible to have a summary of inventories subdivided by a number of variables. One can consult actions associated with germplasm which are in progress, pending or completed. It is possible to check available amounts and availability status on germplasm, also by scanning barcode labels. Finally, it is possible to create new germplasm records by importing data from spreadsheets or creating new acquisitions.
Distribution deals with material requests, either internal to the genebank or from external clients. One can see the list of pending requests, verify request items via barcode scanning, print retrieval lists by scanning the order barcode, or consult material requests received via the Genesys website.
Cooperators is an address book of persons and organizations. Anytime a record refers to a person or organization, it will refer to the Cooperator database. Every user of GG-CE has an accompanying entry in this address book.
Seed viability section provides support for scheduling and data management in viability testing. It flags the germplasm which is due to be tested, and allows the user to initiate the material order, specify the viability method to be used for testing. Individual test replicates are uniquely barcoded and the user will record multiple observations per replicate. At the end of the test, GG-CE calculates the final test results.
Taxonomy deals with the scientific classification of material stored in the genebank, GG-CE uses the GRIN Taxonomy database.
Crops allows the definition of crop related traits, while Trait data allows associating characterisation and evaluation datasets which feature the crop traits.
Geography provides a common geographic administrative level information standard which can be used in the other areas of the database when referencing locations.
Methods is an entity that groups together a set of characteristics and contexts under a single definition which can be associated with actions applied to germplasm. It includes reasons for performing actions, plant anatomical part definitions and geographic administrative information and coordinates.
The Admin tools section replaces the original GG Admin Tool. It allows Administrators to manage application configuration, user accounts and groups, manage permissions and API clients.
Management of Code Values, Sites and Inventory Maintenance Policies can be found in this section.
